Adult & Senior Ballet Extensions & Hip Strength Course

As a Certified Personal Trainer specializing in adult dance conditioning, I know that struggling with extensions isn't usually a "flexibility" problem—it’s a mechanics problem. Whether you’re working through a "shaking leg," a "gripping hip," or returning to the barre after a hip replacement, I am here to help you rebuild your foundation.

On the Veronica K Platform, I don't just show you exercises; I apply professional personal training principles to the art of ballet. I’ve helped my students—some as old as 78—progress from 45-degree to 90-degree extensions by focusing on proximal stability (the strength of your core and hips) to gain distal control (the height of your leg).

Conditioning for Adult Ballet Dancers

  • I designed this course specifically for the adult and senior ballet dancer. If you are a dancer or a dance educator, I am here to help you troubleshoot:

  • Hip Gripping & Catching: Identifying why the hip "locks" during devant or à la seconde.

  • Functional Endurance: Ending the "shaking leg" by building proper muscular support.

  • Movement Pattern Correction: Shifting away from just stretching and toward the proximal strengthening your joints actually need.

  • Identifying Common Compensation Patterns: To help bring awareness to what could be a limiting factor for your ballet extensions.

The Training Program

  • Using minimal equipment at home, I will lead you through a structured, 3-stage progression. As your Dance-Specializing Personal Trainer, I prioritize simple, slow, and controlled movements to ensure your safety:

  • Level 1 (Foundation): Lying and kneeling exercises to isolate and activate the deep hip musculature.

  • Level 2 (Endurance): Building the stamina required to hold your lines without fatigue.

  • Level 3 (Integration): Standing work designed to translate your new strength directly into your arabesque and développé during class.

  • Each of the three progressive routines is designed for you to spend 2–3 weeks on the exercises until you feel true mastery. In my experience as a trainer, improving extensions isn't about chasing "fancy" new exercises; it’s about developing solid motor learning patterns. We will focus on the essential foundations—your standing leg stability, core control, and breath work—to ensure your progress is both functional and permanent.
